The Department of Defense has granted conditional approval for Vantiva USA LLC’s CWA438TX router until Jan. 3, 2028, the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announced in a public notice in WC docket 18-89, ET docket 21-232, and EA docket 21-233.

In light of that, the bureau said the router was exempt from the “covered list” of equipment and services deemed to present a substantial national security risk to the nation’s telecommunications networks.

The FCC had announced the addition of foreign-made consumer routers to the list earlier this year (CPR, March 24), in the wake of and in compliance with determinations by an executive branch interagency body.
