The FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau has granted three petitions for reconsideration to reinstate applications for review related to robocalls that the bureau previously dismissed.
The FCC had proposed dismissing them in a CG docket 25-307 public notice released with several further notices of proposed rulemaking last fall, noting that they had been submitted in 2020 and that there had been no advocacy on them for several years.
The bureau subsequently dismissed 11 petitions in May of this year, and petitioners Anderson + Wanca, Career Counseling Services, Inc., and Cin-Q Automobiles, Inc., filed separate petitions for reconsideration in June, seeking reinstatement of their applications for review, contending that they were not given reasonable notice and that the issues raised in their application were not moot or outdated, as the bureau presumed.
In an order adopted and released yesterday, the bureau noted that its reinstatement action was “consistent with the Commission’s past practice, which has been to not dismiss a petition for reconsideration or an application for review if the petitioner or applicant objects to the dismissal and presents reasons for such objection” and that it was “express[ing] no opinion on the merits of the underlying applications for review,” FCC, Order on Reconsideration, Dkts. 02-278, 05-338, and 25-307 (Aug. 17, 2026).
