Polaris Industries has announced a recall of approximately 4,900 Ranger XP Kinetic and 185 Pro XD Kinetic recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) due to a potential fire hazard. In addition, around 330 ROVs were sold in Canada. The recall affects Model Year 2023-2024 Ranger XP Kinetic and Model Year 2025 Pro XD Kinetic ROVs. The issue arises from water potentially leaking through a cracked filter into the ROV's high-voltage charging harness components, which can cause a short circuit and pose a fire risk (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 25-343, June 18, 2025).

Incidents and injuries. Polaris has received 47 reports of filter failures, including six incidents of melting or fire and four incidents of sparking or smoke, though no injuries have been reported.

Product description. The recalled Ranger XP Kinetic vehicles were sold in camouflage and white colors, while the Pro XD Kinetic vehicles feature gray plastic body panels with a black frame and accents. All affected vehicles have three-seat configurations with "POLARIS" stamped on the front grille.

The ROVs were manufactured in the United States and were sold by Polaris dealers nationwide from April 2023 through March 2025 for between $24,000 and $37,500.

Remedy. Consumers are advised to contact an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair. Polaris is reaching out to all registered owners with instructions on how to safely operate their vehicles until the necessary repairs are made.
