Cybersecurity Policy Report, Platform for Data Broker Opt-out Requests Becomes Operational in California, (Aug 3, 2026)

The California Privacy Protection Agency (CalPrivacy) said in a LinkedIn post yesterday that access to begin processing requests filed using the state’s Delete Request and Opt-Out Platform (DROP) system was now available.
Data brokers with a DROP account are advised in the post to sign in to the DROP portal, select their deletion request lists and begin processing the requests. CalPrivacy said data brokers must access the DROP system within 45 days of Aug. 1 to download their initial batch of consumer deletion requests. Brokers failing to comply with the deadline may be subject to significant administrative penalties, the agency said.
