Global Daily Tax News, Philippines, Cambodia Sign Delayed Double Tax Pact, (Feb 12, 2025)
On February 11, 2025, the Philippines and Cambodia signed a new double tax agreement, to reduce withholding taxes on cross-border income, provide for the automatic exchange of information, and counter tax base erosion and profit shifting.
The draft text was agreed in April 2024 and it was earlier expected that the agreement would be formally signed in October 2024. However, following a request from Cambodia, the date for the signing ceremony was pushed forward to February 2025.
At the time, the Philippines announced negotiations are ongoing with Laos and will be launched with Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
