General Motors LLC (GM) has issued a recall for approximately 597,630 vehicles across various models due to potential engine failure, which could increase the risk of a crash. The recall specifically targets 2021-2024 models of Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, as well as GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL. These vehicles are equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine that may contain defective connecting rod and/or crankshaft components, potentially leading to engine damage and subsequent failure (NHTSA Recall Notice, No. 25V274, Report receipt date: Apr. 24, 2025).

In response to the identified issue, GM has outlined a remedy plan to address the engine defects. Dealerships will conduct inspections on the engines of the affected vehicles and will perform repairs or replace the engine as necessary. For vehicles that pass the initial inspection, dealers will implement additional preventive measures, including the installation of higher viscosity oil, a new oil fill cap, and a replacement oil filter. Also, the owner's manual for these vehicles will be updated. All repairs and preventative actions will be carried out at no cost to the vehicle owners.

GM plans to send out notification letters to owners on June 9, 2025. For further information, owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252494000. Additionally, owners can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
