Global Daily Tax News, New Zealand Resumes Processing Early 2025 Tax Returns, (Sep 19, 2024)
New Zealand's Inland Revenue Department has announced that it has resumed early processing of individual income tax returns IR3 and IR3NR, and early automatic assessments for the 2025 tax year.
In late July, the agency paused early processing to allow time for it to apply the new income tax thresholds. On September 17, 2024, the agency said: "We have removed the processing hold on early IR3s, IR3NRs and automatic assessments for the 2025 tax year. Returns on hold are now being processed."
Alongside the earlier delay, the IRD updated its guidance on the tax rates that are effective for April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
