Cybersecurity Policy Report, New Jersey Extends Comment Deadline for Privacy Rules, (Aug 11, 2025)

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has extended the deadline for submission of comments on proposed rules designed to implement the state’s privacy and data protection law that took effect earlier this year.

In a news release, the division said the comment period for interested parties, which was scheduled to expire on Aug. 1, has been extended to Sept. 2. The proposed rule text and information on the submission of comments may be found here.

The proposed rules are designed to implement the New Jersey Data Privacy Act, which took effect in January, and provide augmented information for businesses on a variety of issues covered by the law, including facilitating opt-out requests and obtaining valid consents from children and their guardians, among others (CPR, June 4).
