Robert W. Doyle, Jr., a founding partner of the Washington, D.C. boutique law firm Doyle, Barlow & Mazard, PLLC (DB&M), passed away suddenly on May 18, 2014. He was 66 years old, according to a firm announcement.
Doyle focused his practice on antitrust and trade regulation law, involving substantial work in private and government antitrust investigations, litigation, and merger and acquisition matters. With over two decades of experience representing the FTC in merger and acquisition investigations and litigation, Doyle was a prominent member of the antitrust community in D.C. He provided strategic advice and counseling to companies contemplating transactions that could face FTC, DOJ, or state antitrust scrutiny. While at the FTC, Doyle’s office successfully opposed Staples’ proposed acquisition of Office Depot.
“Bob was energetic and always optimistic,” said DB&M partner and close friend, Andre P. Barlow. “He always had a positive perspective. He was passionate about antitrust law and proud of our law firm. He was a strong-minded and unwavering advocate for his clients. Bob was a friend, mentor, and partner in every sense. He was a team player. Not only will we and our clients miss him, but so will the entire antitrust community.”
Doyle received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law, his M.A. from the Temple University Graduate School of Business, and his undergraduate degree in economics from Temple University. He is survived by his wife Debra and two daughters, Michaela and Skyler.
DB&M was founded in April 2006 by Doyle, Barlow, and Camelia Mazard. It has grown to be a successful antitrust and international trade boutique law firm, and has expanded to provide additional areas of service, including employment law, commercial litigation, and hospitality law.
