Antitrust and white collar litigator Robin Ellen Kaplan has joined McDonald Hopkins LLC as a senior counsel in the firm’s national White Collar and Government Compliance Practice Group, according to a recent announcement. She will work in the firm’s Miami and Palm Beach offices.

Formerly with trial and appellate boutique firm Markus & Markus, Kaplan has extensive background in complex criminal and regulatory defense litigation involving white collar and antitrust matters, in state and federal courts in Florida and around the country. She has served as lead trial lawyer in a variety of trials, most recently successfully obtaining an acquittal for an attorney in a complex mortgage fraud case in the Southern District of Florida. In addition, Kaplan co-tried a groundbreaking case in which the defense secured an acquittal of all 141 counts against a medical doctor.

Her cases have involved complex antitrust, tax, RICO, wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, Sarbanes-Oxley, drug trafficking, bank fraud, and healthcare fraud, as well as alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

She is chair of the National Women's White Collar Defense Group of South Florida and is a member of the Federal Bar Association's South Florida Chapter. Kaplan earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami where she was an editor for the International and Comparative Law Review, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Florida State University.
