IP Law Daily, LAW FIRM NEWS: Jaime Saavedra joins Kilpatrick Townsend in San Francisco, (Apr 17, 2014)

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton has added Jaime Saavedra, Ph.D. as an associate with the Patent Team in its Intellectual Property Department, according to an April 15 announcement. He is resident in the firm’s San Francisco office.

Saavedra focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counseling, due diligence, licensing, and other intellectual property issues related to health and life science matters. Before becoming an associate, he worked as a law clerk and summer associate with Kilpatrick Townsend. Prior to coming to the firm, Saavedra was a graduate researcher at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he developed new and environmentally friendly methods of reducing a variety of functional groups, including nitrile, halide, and carbonyl functionalities.

Previously, he was a legal intern in the Munich office of a German intellectual property law firm, where he performed legal and organizational tasks in patent litigation, including European and U.S. patent searches; interpretations of high technology, chemical, and materials patents; and research on the proposed European Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court.

Saavedra is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (B.S., Chemistry), University of California, Santa Cruz (Ph.D., Chemistry and Biochemistry), and Santa Clara University School of Law (J.D.). During law school, he was a Research Editor of the Santa Clara High Technology Law Journal.
