Greenberg Traurig, LLP further grew its Antitrust and M&A Practices with the strategic addition of Stephen M. Pepper as a shareholder in the firm’s New York office. Before joining Greenberg Traurig, Pepper was counsel at Davis Polk & Wardell LLP, according to a November 16 firm Greenberg Traurig announcement.

Pepper has extensive experience with the antitrust requirements of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, particularly those involving complex private equity fund structures. His experience includes: (1) both the pre-acquisition reporting requirements of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act and notification and approval requirements of merger control regimes worldwide; (2) obtaining antitrust clearance from the Department of Justice, the FTC, and foreign merger control authorities for transactions in a variety of industries, including engineering, electronics, software, semiconductor equipment, chemicals, retail stores, food and beverage, banking, publishing, and consulting; and (3) advising clients on global merger clearance strategy for international transactions, including the coordination of international merger control filings and clearance efforts.

McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Christian Krohs as partner in its Düsseldorf office. Mr. Krohs, who will join the firm with two associates at the end of the year, will be responsible for developing McDermott’s antitrust practice in Germany. His team will also advise on compliance issues in relation to antitrust and corruption, the firm has announced.

Krohs joins McDermott Will & Emery from KPMG Law in Cologne where he was the head of its antitrust group and played a decisive role in its set up. Prior to that, he spent eight years with Freshfields working in Cologne, Berlin and Brussels. He has extensive experience in advising on German and EU competition matters, particularly with regard to cartel proceedings, defending damages claims and merger control proceedings, especially in the energy industry.

Attorneys: Stephen M. Pepper (Greenberg Traurig, LLP). Christian Krohs (McDermott Will & Emery).
