John Roberti, former attorney for the FTC, has joined Allen & Overy in the firm's global antitrust practice, as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office, the firm announced today. The appointment is in line with the firm's goal to have a market leading global antitrust practice.

Prior to joining Allen & Overy, Roberti practiced at Mayer Brown LLP and the FTC. He brings substantial agency and private practice experience to Allen & Overy. Roberti represents clients in all aspects of government and private antitrust litigation. He has handled high-profile trials and litigation in both private practice and during his tenure with the FTC, including representing the pioneer pharmaceutical company in the FTC’s investigation that became the landmark case on pay-for-delay settlements, FTC v. Actavis, Inc., U.S. Supreme Court Docket. No. 12-416 (2013).

Roberti's practice also includes defending clients in non-public investigations involving antitrust, consumer protection, and privacy matters. He has successfully advocated before the FTC and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in matters involving consummated mergers, alleged price signaling, false advertising, and discriminatory lending. Roberti also regularly represents companies in global merger transactions. He coordinates global merger strategies for clients, including representing clients before the U.S. competition agencies.

With the arrival of Roberti, Allen & Overy has bolstered its ability to represent clients in large-scale cartel, merger, and civil litigation matters, as well as consumer protection and privacy investigations in front of the DOJ and FTC, and related civil litigation and counseling.

Roberti received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law, and his B.A. from Brown University. He is a leader in the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association.
