Firms look toward 2021 with the election of new partners, and celebrate this year’s awards.

Crowell and Moring LLP has announced that partner Paul M. Rosen has been named to the Daily Journal’s 2020 list of "Top White Collar Lawyers," which recognizes leading white collar defenders in California. Rosen serves as head of Crowell & Moring’s National Security practice and is a partner in the firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement, Privacy & Cybersecurity, and Government Contracts groups. The article highlighted Rosen’s government experience as a former federal prosecutor, chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, and counsel to then-Senator Joe Biden. Juristat has included Haynes and Boone, LLP, in its report on the patent law firms that have experienced the most growth in applications over the last decade. With 120.53 percent organic growth in its patent prosecution practice, Haynes and Boone was featured among the top 25 firms during 2009-2018.

Four Troutman Pepper attorneys have been recognized as 2020 BTI Client Service All-Stars by The BTI Consulting Group, including Vincent Carissimi, who is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Philadelphia office. Honorees were identified by clients as those "delivering the absolute best in client service."

Partners and Promotions. Firms have announced IP attorneys that have been named new partners, and other promotions for their attorneys. Foley Hoag LLP has announced the elevation of seven attorneys to partnership status at the firm, including Thi Dio, effective Jan. 1, 2021. Dio’s practice focuses on intellectual property counseling and management, and worldwide prosecution of biotechnology-related patent portfolios, for startups, academic institutions and universities, research foundations, and large pharmaceutical companies in a wide range of life sciences technical areas.

King & Spalding has named 16 new partners, in 8 locations, effective Jan. 1, 2021. The new partners include Britton Davis and Brian Eutermoser in the firm’s Denver office. Davis focuses on high-stakes patent and trade secret disputes involving complex technologies in US district court, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Eutermoser specializes in patent disputes and other complex litigation in state and federal courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Munger, Tolles & Olson have promoted four lawyers in its Los Angeles and San Francisco offices to partner, including John Schwab. Schwab, based in Los Angeles, is a litigator who focuses on complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on intellectual property disputes and the entertainment industry.

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP has elected five attorneys to the firm’s partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2021. The new partners include Danielle Vincenti Tully, an intellectual property litigator in the New York office. Tully handles complex intellectual property litigation for clients in a wide range of technology areas, including medical devices, computer hardware and software, pharmaceutical, digital television systems and telecommunications. Her experience also includes handling ex parte and inter partes proceedings in the Patent & Trademark Office and counseling clients in a variety of IP and due diligence matters.

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has announced that it has elevated 11 lawyers to partner, effective Jan. 1, 2021. The newly named partners advise clients in each of the firm’s four core industries—Technology & Media, Energy, Financial and Real Estate & Construction. The new partners include Ben Bernell in the Austin office. Bernell represents technology clients in disputes involving intellectual property, breach of contract and Internet-related claims, as well as antitrust and business disparagement matters. Also promoted was James McPhillips in the Washington DC office. McPhillips is a nationally recognized technology attorney who represents a range of clients on technology matters. Also promoted was Vijay Toke in the San Francisco office. Toke focuses on trademark, copyright and licensing disputes. He has been ranked in the World Trademark Review 1000 every year since 2015.

Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP has announced that Senior Attorney Raymond "Ray" Burroughs has joined its Taxation and Corporate Law practice groups. Ray also advises clients on systems and products in the areas of health and information technology solutions, data exchanges, privacy, and cybersecurity. "Shumaker is lucky to have Ray join our team. He has a diverse range of skills that will be extremely beneficial to our clients," said Laura Evans, the managing partner of the firm’s Charleston office.
