Antitrust Law Daily Wrap Up, LAW FIRM NEWS: Dr. Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte joins Crowell & Moring as antitrust partner, (May 21, 2014)

Crowell & Moring has announced the addition of Dr. Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte to its Belgium office, as a partner in its Antitrust and International Trade groups, and European Regulatory Practice. Her areas of focus will be on European and national competition law, international trade, and other European regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Cisnal de Ugarte was a member of Mayer Brown’s Antitrust/Competition and Government/Global Trade groups in Brussels. She began her legal career on Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s antitrust, competition, and trade team, and later worked as Whirlpool Europe’s European & Regulatory Affairs director. She has more than 15 years of experience and has become a trusted advisor to global corporations across various sectors, such as banking and financial services, energy and natural resources, luxury and other consumer goods, and chemicals, according to Crowell & Moring.

Cisnal de Ugarte graduated in law and economics from the University of Deusto, received her master of laws from Harvard Law School, and obtained a Ph.D. in law from the European University Institute in Florence. She is an associate professor on European competition law at ESADE and IE Law Schools and is a fellow of the Center for European Studies/IE in Madrid. Cisnal de Ugarte is also a frequent writer and speaker on competition and trade issues in various international forums. She was most recently a panelist at Harvard University’s “2014 European Conference at Harvard—Regeneration.”
