Additionally, the Chambers 2025 rankings are out, antitrust attorneys are promoted, and firms win significant antitrust cases for their clients.

Attorney acquisitions and promotions have been announced by several firms with antitrust practices. A Washington D.C. firm has announced its new offices, and two firms and an individual attorney have been recognized for their accomplishments in the area of antitrust.

On the move. Sullivan & Cromwell has welcomed Kyle Mach, former Deputy Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition, as a partner. Mach will join the firm at its Palo Alto office. He is an experienced trial lawyer, and has handled complicated antitrust litigation and regulatory matters. He brings experience with both private practice and the FTC that will strengthen S&C’s extensive capabilities in antitrust litigation and M&A matters.

In its San Francisco office, Boies Schiller Flexner LLP has added Margaux Poueymirou as partner in the firm. Poueymirou has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation disputes involving antitrust, intellectual property, and AI issues. She comes from the Joseph Saveri Law Firm where she played a key role representing software developers, authors, and other plaintiffs in pioneering AI copyright cases against technology companies. Poueymirou is also experienced in antitrust litigation, primarily representing opt-out plaintiffs in complex matters involving anticompetitive and fraudulent practices in the areas of healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

In addition, leading global firm Baker McKenzie has hired Marie Leppard as a partner in its London Antitrust & Competition Practice. Leppard comes from boutique competition firm, Euclid Law, and brings significant experience advising clients on EU, UK and multijurisdictional merger control, foreign direct investment, cartel investigations, abuse of dominant position, and antitrust compliance. She also brings her familiarity with a range of sectors, such as consumer goods, energy, pharma, banking and fintech, as well as advising leniency applicants in cartels, bid-rigging and resale price maintenance investigations initiated by competition, and financial regulatory authorities in the EU and the UK. Leppard will be based in the firm’s London office.

Further, Morrison Foerster, a prominent global firm, has announced the addition of Jan Lang as partner within the firm’s European Competition Practice and Global Antitrust Law Practice Group. He joins the firm from a major U.S.-based firm, where he practiced in the firm’s competition group, based in Brussels. Lang brings a broad antitrust and competition practice to Morrison Foerster, with a particular focus on merger control proceedings, international cartel investigations, and abuse of dominance cases. He advises global companies on competition law and regulatory matters, and represents clients before the European Commission, German Federal Cartel Office, and German Courts.

Also, O’Melveny has announced that antitrust lawyer Stéphane Frank has rejoined the firm’s Brussels office as a partner in the Antitrust and Competition Group. His arrival from Gibson Dunn, where he was also a partner, enhances the group’s European capabilities and expands its worldwide roster of experienced antitrust practitioners. For almost 15 years, Frank has engaged in a variety of high-profile antitrust and competition matters, focusing on matters involving EU and French competition law. A French qualified lawyer and a member of the Brussels bar, Frank has represented clients in abuse of dominance and cartel enforcement cases. He also has extensive experience providing advice on the intricacies of European merger controls and in the coordination of global, multijurisdictional merger control and FDI filings.

Moreover, Foley & Lardner LLP has announced that the firm has strengthened its nationwide State Attorneys General Practice with the addition of three experienced AG practitioners, partners Siran Faulders and Stephen Cobb in Washington, D.C., and of counsel Meghan Stoppel in Denver, all of whom previously held leadership roles in state AG offices. Joining Foley from Cozen O’Connor, this team enhances Foley’s Government Solutions Practice Group and expands its capabilities in the Health Care & Life Sciences and Innovative Technology Sectors. The team advises clients on a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters, including consumer protection, Medicaid fraud, data privacy, antitrust, and multistate attorneys general investigations.

Office relocation, promotion. Hausfeld has announced that its Washington, D.C. team has moved to a new office at 1200 17th Street, NW. The office is located in one of Washington’s most vibrant business and cultural districts. In addition, Hausfeld has announced that Washington, D.C. Partner Timothy S. Kearns has been appointed as the new Managing Editor of the firm’s Competition Bulletin. Joining him is Michael Zymler, Professional Support Lawyer in London, who will serve as Assistant Managing Editor.

Recognition. Benchmark Litigation has named prominent international firm Proskauer as its winner in three categories in its 2025 U.S. Awards. For Impact Case of the Year, Proskauer was recognized for securing a landmark victory for Sanderson Farms in In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation, which was led by Christopher Ondeck, co-chair of Proskauer’s Antitrust Group and head of its D.C. office. Ondeck was named Benchmark Litigation’s Antitrust Litigator of the Year.

Finally, leading global firm Baker McKenzie has been recognized in 140 practice areas and 205 lawyer categories, securing 33 new lawyer rankings in the Chambers Europe 2025 guide. In Hungary, the firm has maintained its Band 1 ranking in Competition/Antitrust for 19 years.

Other news. Weil celebrated a victory in the Second Circuit for its client, Saks Fifth Avenue, in a “No Hire” antitrust class action. On March 13, 2025, the appellate court issued a decision in favor of Saks Fifth Avenue and other luxury retailers in a closely watched antitrust class action. The plaintiffs, former Saks employees, alleged that Saks entered into agreements with other retailers not to hire certain Saks employees, and that these alleged “no hire” agreements were unlawful under the federal Sherman Act. The district court dismissed the complaint for failure to state an antitrust claim. The Second Circuit affirmed the dismissal.
