Global law firm Reed Smith LLP has welcomed antitrust attorney Bruce A. Blefeld as a partner in the firm’s Global Regulatory Enforcement Group. He joins the firm’s Houston office from K&L Gates, Reed Smith has announced.
Focusing his practice on antitrust litigation, Blefeld has successfully defended a major global health care device and supply company in a $1 billion antitrust suit and has defended the largest health care group purchasing organization in a $600 million antitrust action. Blefeld also held an important role on the trial team that prevented Hexion Specialty Chemicals from terminating its $6.5 billion agreement to acquire his client’s company. The case settled after trial when Hexion and its majority owner paid the client $1 billion.
