    Cybersecurity Policy Report, Kenyan DPA Seeks Comments on Guidelines for Privacy Law Compliance, (May 19, 2025)

    The Kenyan Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) released sector-specific guidelines on Friday designed to assist entities in complying with the Data Protection Act 2019.

    The Kenyan Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) released sector-specific guidelines on Friday designed to assist entities in complying with the Data Protection Act 2019.

    Among the topics discussed in the guidelines, which may be accessed from the ODPA’s dedicated consultation page, are notes on the processing of children’s data, processing for historical and statistical purposes, processing personal data for publication or recorded media photographs, biometric data processing, processing for research and journalistic purposes, and processing by the public sector and by smaller enterprises.

    The page also includes a downloadable template for comments that may be filled out by interested parties and submitted to compliance@odpc.go.ke through May 30.
