The Senate has confirmed Lawrence Joseph Vilardo to be a federal judge in the Western District of New York by a vote of 88-0. Judge Vilardo was nominated by President Obama and comes to the bench from private practice, where he was a partner in the firm Connors & Vilardo, LLP. He recently headed the firm’s appellate practice while handling a variety of litigated matters. The judge has previously held several adjunct academic posts and once clerked for Judge Irving L. Goldberg of the Fifth Circuit.

Judge Vilardo graduated from Canisius College and earned his law degree at Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
