The American Antitrust Institute (AAI) is seeking a new President and CEO to replace Albert A. (“Bert”) Foer, the founder of the organization who will be retiring at the end of this year. The AAI announced the start of its search for Foer’s successor yesterday.
On December 3, 2013, Foer stated his intention to retire during the AAI’s 7th Annual Private Enforcement Conference and Awards Dinner. He said he intended to continue part-time as a Senior Fellow on special assignment for at least two years after the new President comes on board.
The AAI is a non-profit competition advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. The organization’s mission is to promote the laws and institutions of antitrust and competition policy, both in the U.S. and internationally. The AAI is governed by a multi-disciplinary, seven-person board of directors comprised of professionals from the legal, academic, economic, business, and advocacy communities.
The President reports to the Board of Directors and carries the full range of responsibilities generally associated with a chief executive officer role. Candidates must share the organization’s vision and be passionate about advancing competition policy and antitrust advocacy, the organization said.
Ideal candidates will possess appropriate senior-level organizational and financial leadership; a demonstrated expertise in law and economics of antitrust; a JD, LLB, PhD, or MBA; relationship-building skills; the ability to think strategically and critically, synthesize complex issues and information, and manage change; and effective and professional written and oral communication skills, among others. The position requirements are available here.
Applicants for the position should submit a resume, cover letter, and salary requirements to AAI@raffa.com by June 30, 2014.
