    Illinois issued guidance on changes to the method for calculating the medical cannabis cultivation privilege tax. Effective beginning July 1, 2026, cultivators must calculate the tax based on the gross receipts from the first sale of medical cannabis, instead of the sales price per ounce. The guidance discusses the definition of "gross receipts" and updates to Form MC-1 due August 20, 2026 for the July 2026 monthly reporting period.
