Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency and temporarily suspending the state’s motor fuel excise tax for an additional two-week period, effective 12:01 a.m. on May 20 through June 3. This action follows the expiration of a previously reported separate statutory suspension authorized under HB 1199, which ends at 11:59 p.m. on May 19. The extension is structured to provide uninterrupted relief from fuel taxes. The suspension applies to the state’s existing excise tax rates of 33.3¢ per gallon for gasoline and 37.3¢ per gallon for diesel.
