Global Daily Tax News, Estonian Tax Season Start Set For February 15, (Jan 24, 2024)
Estonia's tax service has said the country's individual tax season will begin on February 15, with returns due by April 30.
It said there have been no changes to personal income tax deductions since last year; taxpayers can continue to deduct mortgage interest, training costs, and gifts and donations up to EUR1,200, capped at no more than 50 percent of taxable income.
Next year, mortgage interest deductions will be repealed.
Separately, the tax agency said it has begun issuing notices to taxpayers who have failed to report income from real estate sales in the 2022 income tax return, due by May 2, 2023.
Further, the tax agency is contacting those that earned income from logging activities, or who sold rights to log to others, who failed to declare such in their return.
