She looks forward to working to further disavow DEI, she says, and remains “committed” to enacting the agenda set forth by the President.

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Andrea Lucas, currently the Acting Chair for the EEOC, to a second term on the Commission, by a vote of 52 to 45.

Prior to her nomination by President Trump in his first term as President, Lucas practiced law in the Washington, D.C., office of Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher LLP in the firm’s management-side labor and employment group. She served as a law clerk to former District Judge James C. Cacheris, a Reagan appointee, in the Eastern District of Virginia. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, and her J.D. from the University of Virginia, where she served as an Articles Editor on the Virginia Law Review.

“I am honored to be confirmed by the Senate to serve a second term at the EEOC,” said Lucas. “I look forward to continuing the historic progress this agency has made since the start of the second Trump Administration under my leadership--from securing multiple settlements with some of the world’s largest law firms to disavow DEI and embrace merit-based hiring and other employment practices, to obtaining the largest EEOC settlement to date for victims of antisemitism on behalf of Jewish employees at Columbia University. I remain committed to enacting the bold civil rights agenda laid forth by President Trump, ensuring equal justice under the law, and focusing on the restoration of equal opportunity, merit, and colorblind equality for all members of the American workforce.”
