In her previous job, she oversaw a variety of lawsuits the Christian Employers Alliance brought against the EEOC, including litigation related to the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

Acting Chair of the EEOC Andrea Lucas announced on social media the appointment of Shannon Royce as her Chief of Staff. For over three years prior to this appointment, Ms. Royce was President of the Christian Employers Alliance, which has filed multiple lawsuits against the EEOC in recent years, including one relating to so-called “transgender mandates” and another challenging enforcement of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

CEA states that its “mission is to advocate for biblical values in business and to promote these principles, values, and virtues within the workplace.” Ms. Royce also served as Director, Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives under the Department of Health and Human Services during the previous Trump administration.

“I’m delighted to welcome Shannon Royce to my excellent team at EEOC as my Chief of Staff!” said the EEOC Acting Chair. “President Trump’s series of civil rights Executive Orders has given EEOC the most ambitious civil rights agenda since practically the 1960s and 1970s—and I am passionate about achieving it. Grateful for my small but mighty team that we’re building here at the agency. If you are interested in joining the fight, please reach out.”
