The virtual public hearing will be held on June 16, 2025; interested speakers must register by May 2, 2025.

OSHA has announced that it will host a virtual public hearing on its proposed rule to protect workers from hazardous heat exposure in indoor and outdoor workplaces on June 16, 2025, starting at 9:30 a.m. EDT. It would continue on subsequent weekdays if necessary, according to the announcement, and those who are interested in speaking must complete a Notice of Intention to Appear form by May 2, 2025.

Under the proposed rule, a new standard would apply to all employers conducting outdoor and indoor work in all general industry, construction, maritime, and agriculture sectors where OSHA has jurisdiction, with some exceptions. It would require employers to create a plan to evaluate and control heat hazards in their workplace. It is intended to more clearly set forth employer obligations and the measures needed to effectively protect workers from hazardous heat.

The hearing will be viewable online without registering and instructions for watching the hearing will be posted on OSHA’s rulemaking webpage, according to the announcement.
