Consumers will be offered a full refund.

Empower Brands has issued a recall of approximately 56,300 Remington-brand hair dryers due to a serious safety hazard. The affected model, D3190DCDN, lacks an immersion protection device, which poses a risk of electrocution or shock if the hair dryer falls into water while plugged in (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 25-430 (Aug. 14, 2025)).

Incidents and injuries. No injuries have been reported to date.

Product description. The recalled hair dryers are purple with black accents and feature three black operating buttons on the handle. The word “Remington” appears in white text on the side. Each unit measures approximately 8.5 inches long, 11.6 inches high, and 3.6 inches wide, and weighs about 1.5 pounds.

The hair dryers were manufactured in China and were sold online through Walmart Marketplace, Target Marketplace, and Amazon between March 2024 and June 2025 for between $25 and $32.

Remedy. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the product, unplug it, and follow the refund process outlined by Empower Brands. To obtain a refund, consumers must submit a photo of the hair dryer with its power cord cut in half via the recall registration portal at www.remingtonproducts.com/product-recalls. Disposal instructions are also provided on the website.
