By WK Editorial Staff
There have been at least nine burn injuries associated with the products.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging consumers to immediately stop using Uomeod Mini Steamers due to a significant burn hazard. CPSC has received numerous reports of hot water ejecting, spilling, or leaking from the steamers, which has resulted in several burn injuries. Consumers are advised to cut the cords of their steamers and dispose of them (CPSC Product Warning, No. 25-148 (Feb. 20, 2025)).
The Uomeod Mini Steamers are used to release steam through a nozzle to press textiles such as clothing, drapery, and upholstery. If overfilled, they can eject hot water, posing a burn danger to users. The product instructions and warnings currently do not provide adequate information on how to avoid this hazard or the potential risks involved.
CPSC reports that there have been 49 incidents involving the steamers, with nine resulting in burn injuries, including one second-degree burn from hot water splashing onto a consumer’s thigh in November 2023.
The steamers, which come in rose gold, white, and black, have been available for purchase on Amazon.com since December 2019. They were sold by Uomeod-LZ001, of China, with prices ranging from $14 to $31. All units were manufactured in China by Dongguan Esino Manufacturing Service Co. Ltd.
Uomeod and Dongguan Esino Manufacturing have not agreed to offer an acceptable recall remedy to consumers.
CPSC urges anyone who owns a Uomeod Mini Steamer to immediately cease using the product and to report any incidents or injuries on www.SaferProducts.gov. The Commission also advises consumers not to sell or give away the hazardous steamers.
