Consumers should anchor the dresser to the wall or dispose of it.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging consumers to immediately stop using the Rehoopex 6-Drawer Dressers unless they are securely anchored to a wall. The dressers, which were sold online through Amazon.com, have been found to pose significant tip-over and entrapment hazards that could lead to injury or death, particularly in children (CPSC Product Safety Warning, No. 25-076 (Dec. 26, 2024)).

CPSC's warning comes after it was determined that the dressers fail to meet the mandatory safety standards set by the STURDY Act and the Commission’s own regulations. These standards are designed to prevent injuries and fatalities associated with furniture tip-overs. The Rehoopex dressers violate both performance and labeling requirements, lacking the necessary stability if not anchored properly.

Despite the identified risks, the manufacturer, Well King International Trading Limited, based in China and doing business as REHOOPEX, has not agreed to recall the affected units or offer any remedy to consumers.

Approximately 2,500 units of the Rehoopex 6-Drawer Dresser have been sold between September 2023 and August 2024. The dressers, available in white, wood, and a white/wood combination, are priced between $115 and $170. Each unit measures about 16 inches in length, 47 inches in width, and 31 inches in height, weighing around 84 pounds.

Consumers who currently own a Rehoopex 6-Drawer Dresser are urged to either securely anchor the dresser to a wall or dispose of it. CPSC strongly advises against selling or giving away the dresser due to its potential hazards. Incidents involving the dresser that result in injury or product defects should be reported to the Commission at www.SaferProducts.gov.
