The FTC and 89 of its partner organizations will mark the 17th annual National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) on March 1-7, 2015, by spotlighting their efforts to protect consumers and by educating them about fraud, the agency announced today.

“Organizations committed to consumer protection are energized for National Consumer Protection Week, and the FTC is proud to work with our partners to fight scams in every community,” said Jessica Rich, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “We can all help stop scams by checking out the advice at NCPW.gov, sharing it, and reporting fraud.”

One of the highlights of the week will be a Twitter question and answer session between consumers and FTC officials designed to inform people about common scams. The session is scheduled for March 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Those interested can follow @FTC and tweet #NCPW15 to join the conversation. The NCPW website, meanwhile, will provide consumers with resources on topics ranging from managing credit and debt, avoiding identity theft, staying safe online, and more.

The FTC will host NCPW as part of its Every Community initiative, which fights scams in the marketplace on behalf of underserved groups like Latinos and older adults.
