Global Daily Tax News, Chile Engaging Other Nations On Bilateral APAs, (Aug 14, 2025)
Chile's tax agency has sought to strengthen cooperation with tax authorities in the UK, Canada, and Switzerland on the conclusion of bilateral advance pricing agreements.
The agency scheduled tax conferences with each of the nations, including one recently held with Canada in July. Further events are scheduled for August 21 with officials from the UK and on September 2 with officials from Switzerland.
The events, which include participation also by private sector law firms, are intended to discuss efforts to reduce double tax disputes and improve tax certainty regarding transfer pricing for large multinational enterprises, based on international best practices.
Chile's tax agency noted that, so far, Chile has concluded 17 such advance pricing agreements, covering revenue worth USD647m, and has received 39 applications for APAs – the most of any Latin American country.
17 of these applications are being reviewed, the tax agency said, while two were withdrawn, and three were rejected.
The tax agency said it expects an influx of requests for APAs following the entry into force of the double tax agreement with the United States.
