O’Dwyer Co. filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division on August 22, after the PR Society of America refused to rent a booth to O’Dwyer for the Society’s upcoming 2014 National Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. According to the complaint, O’Dwyer received no reason for the refusal to rent the company a booth, which it claims blocks competition with the Society’s products. O’Dwyer’s six news and informational products allegedly compete with the PR Society’s products. The company accordingly requests the assistance of the Department of Justice “in helping free competition to flourish” at the PR Society’s annual conference.
PR Society describes itself as the largest professional organization serving the U.S. public relations community.
