Canada’s Competition Bureau has issued a No Action Letter (NAL) in the proposed acquisition of Vision Globale by Group TVA, resulting in the completion of the $118 million acquisition first made public on November 13, 2014, according to an agency announcement.

Group TVA, a subsidiary of communications company Québecor Media Inc., is a major French-language television broadcaster in Quebec. Vision Globale operates film and television studios in the Montreal area, such as Mel’s Cité du cinéma in Montréal and Studios Melrose in Saint-Hubert, providing production and post-production services to local and foreign film and television producers.

The Bureau concluded that the acquisition was unlikely to result in a substantial lessening or prevention of competition with respect to the production, distribution, or broadcasting of film and television content in the province of Quebec.
