Canadians are invited to share their views on BCE’s proposed acquisition of Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS), the Canada Competition Bureau announced today.
On May 2, 2016, BCE announced its intention to acquire MTS in a transaction valued at approximately CAD $3.9 billion. BCE also announced its intention, in a separate announcement, to sell some of the wireless business acquired from MTS to TELUS.
The Bureau is currently reviewing the proposed acquisition, as well as the sale of a portion of the acquired MTS wireless business to TELUS, in order to assess any potential impact on competition. As part of its usual approach in examining a merger, the Bureau consults with a wide range of industry participants to obtain their views regarding the competitive implications of a proposed transaction.
Public comments may be made through a feedback form on the Bureau’s website.
