The Canada Competition Bureau has published a draft bulletin setting forth the manner in which the Bureau communicated with parties, stakeholders, and the public during an inquiry, and is seeking comments on the document. The bulletin is being published pursuant to the Bureau’s Action Plan on Transparency announced in May 2013.

The bulletin, titled “Communication during Inquiries,” outlines how and when the Competition Bureau will ordinarily communicate with parties under inquiry, other stakeholders, and the general public. The bulletin is intended to “promote transparency regarding the Bureau’s work and compliance with the Competition Act,” according to the Competition Bureau.

The Competition Bureau seeks all relevant public input on the bulletin, in particular comments that will help it identify areas where its communication efforts during an inquiry might be improved. The Competition Bureau may contact comment authors for clarification and to better understand their suggestions.

Interested parties should submit comments no later than December 2, 2013, by mail to Jeanne Pratt, A/Associate Deputy Commissioner of Competition, Competition Bureau, 50 Victoria Street, Gatineau, Quebec, K1A 0C9; by fax to 819-997-3835; or by e-mail to jeanne.pratt@cb-bc.gc.ca.
