The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee has scheduled a November 12 vote on the nomination of Democrat Terrell McSweeny to be a commissioner at the FTC. The commmittee intends to consider other nominees at the executive meeting, as well.

In October, a planned vote on McSweeny’s nomination, which was announced in June, was called off due to the partial government shutdown. At that time, the vote was not rescheduled.

A hearing was held on the nomination on September 18, at which time McSweeny delivered prepared testimony. The questioning from committee members was cordial, and the nominee did not appear to be controversial. It is likely that the committee will clear McSweeny for floor consideration.
