Chuck Loughlin will replace Tara Reinhart as Chief Trial Counsel for the FTC Bureau of Competition, Director Deborah L. Feinstein has announced.
Loughlin joined the Competition Bureau in September 2015 as Deputy Chief Trial Counsel for the litigation group. He has more than 20 years of antitrust litigation experience. Prior to joining the FTC Loughlin litigated antitrust cases in a number of industries, including automobiles, construction equipment, financial services, grocery distribution, high-tech, and pharmaceuticals.
As Deputy Chief Trial Counsel, Loughlin "played a pivotal role in the Commission’s successful challenge to the Staples/Office Depot merger," Feinstein stated. In particular, he conducted key direct examinations and participated in every aspect of the day-to-day conduct of the case. "I look forward to working with Chuck in his new role," Feinstein added.
Reinhart will be leaving the FTC later this week, according to Feinstein. She will be rejoining Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Group, Reinhart will focus her practice on civil litigation and government investigations, with an emphasis on complex antitrust litigation and international cartel probes.
