On Monday, in response to a court order, HR@opm.gov sent out a message to federal employees informing them that the deadline had been pushed back again.

In litigation that started with a complaint filed last week, on February 4, 2025, a federal district court in Massachusetts has now granted an open-ended stay on the deadline set by the Trump Administration for federal employees to respond to the “deferred resignations offer,” better known as the “Fork in the Road Directive.” The new stay is to “remain in effect until further order of the Court.” The court first granted a limited temporary restraining order extending the deadline to February 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

After merits arguments yesterday, and in response to the court’s order, the controversial new email address sent out a message stating that “the program remains open to resignations” and that “OPM intends to close the program to new entrants as soon as legally permissible.” And OPM’s web page was updated with the new information.
