The FTC will host a public workshop on September 15 in Washington, D.C. to discuss the testing and evaluation of disclosures that companies make to consumers with regard to advertising claims, privacy practices, and other information.

The workshop, entitled "Putting Disclosures to the Test," will focus on encouraging and improving the evaluation and testing of disclosures by industry, academics, and the FTC. It will explore how to test the effectiveness of these disclosures to ensure consumers notice, understand, and can use disclosures when making decisions. In addition, the Commission noted that the workshop is intended to further the understanding of testing and evaluating both offline and online consumer disclosures, including disclosures delivered through icons, product labels, short text, long text, audio or video messages, interactive tools, and other media.
