    By Edward L. Puzzo, J.D.

The FTC has published for comment the terms of its proposed consent agreement with pharmaceutical company Novartis AG, designed to remedy the anticompetitive effects of Novartis’ proposed acquisition of oncology assets from GlaxoSmithKline PLC (80 Fed. Reg. 11202, March 2, 2015).

This follows the FTC’s recent announcement that Switzerland-based Novartis has agreed to divest all assets related to its BRAF and MEK protein-coding gene inhibitor drugs currently in development, to Colorado-based Array BioPharma, in order to settle FTC charges that Novaris’ $16 billion acquisition of UK-based pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline’s portfolio of cancer treatment drugs would likely be anticompetitive.

Comments on the consent agreement must be received on or before March 25, 2013. Interested parties may file a comment here or mail a comment to: Federal Trade Commission, Office of the Secretary, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW., Suite CC–5610 (Annex D), Washington, DC 20580.

    Companies: Novartis AG; GlaxoSmithKline PLC
